The ambience of our space last Friday, 7 October 2016, was a visually arresting exhibit of clays and it satiated one’s appetite for ceramics.
Breathe – Galeri Chandan’s collaboration with Patisatustudio’s ceramic artists Umibaizurah [email protected], who is known as one of Malaysia’s foremost female ceramic sculptors in the art scene, and 2009 Malaysia Emerging Artist Award (MEAA) winner Mohd Al-Khuzairie Ali was indeed accepted well by all who came for the opening reception.
Adding up to the merriment of the night, the crowd was a good mixture of all races and also with an addition of Kawaii Japanese ladies who came and support Patisatustudio’s resident artist Satoko Ootsuki from Yokohama, Japan.
We began the opening reception that night with a moment of silence and recited the Al-Fatihah for the late Datuk Fatimah Sulaiman, a renowned art collector in Malaysia who passed away recently.
Later, all 3 ceramic artists were given an opportunity to say a few words where these potters and ceramists elaborated on their latest artworks.
Many stayed on till late to celebrate these three extraordinaires whose works gave us goosebumps in more ways than one.
We are proud that this collaboration has in one way promoted Malaysian and Japanese contemporary art and all its aesthetic values to the eyes of the world.
Breathe is now showing at Galeri Chandan until 23rd October 2016.
